Kobelco has recently launched their newest excavator, the SK300LC, in North America. This 68,100-lb machinery is part of the Kobelco Generation 10 range. It features a 252hp Tier IV Final HINO engine that makes it one of the most fuel efficient and powerful excavators in its class.
Its engine incorporates a selective catalytic reduction system that features diesel particulate filters. This basically promotes fuel efficiency by converting the NOx into nitrogen and water emissions. It also cuts down operation costs and reduces NOx emissions by 88%.
In addition to that, the SK300LC can achieve a leading-class work volume with its digging force of 37,300-lbf. According to a company statement, this boost in efficiency comes from a new hydraulic regeneration system. The integration of this system aids the arm by reusing the force from the boom. This not only lessens energy loss but also ensures top performance.
Heavy loads are no problem since the SK300LC excavator is able to offer ample power for that very task. For additional reinforcement, Kobelco equipped this machine with a higher boom foot cross-section, a thicker arm-foot base plate, and stronger foot bases. And to enhance stability, they have incorporated a redesigned boss shape and boom foot whilst distributing the digging force evenly. This promotes maximum durability as well.
Aside from those, it can deliver a more powerful drawbar pulling force with its new travel motor. It increases traction for by 10% without sacrificing the travel speed. Another noticeable feature is the inclusion of the Kobelco exclusive feature which is the independent travel. In essence, this allows the machine to lift, swing, and move simultaneously with the same constant power. Additionally, there is no need to switch modes with the automatic swing priority as it will deliver full swing power in cases of combined operations.
As far as maintenance is concerned, the Generation 10 SK300LC is easy and cost efficient as well. Kobelco improved the operating product lifecycle costs with the utilization of the latest IT innovations. Data from the operation management system is also very accessible. Finally, operator comfort is not forgotten with the expanded cab. Operators can get to enjoy wide entry and exit access, clear visibility, and safe operations.
